Dickies Arena
I joined the marketing team at Dickies Arena in June 2023, serving as their first marketing intern. I worked 20–25 hours per week during the summers of 2023 and 2024 and continued to work arena events as my schedule allowed during the school year.
Dickies Arena hosts more than 150 events annually and is home to the renowned Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, which takes place over three weeks each January. The arena was ranked No. 1 on Billboard Magazine’s 2023 year-end list of Top Venues in the 10,001–15,000 capacity category, based on gross revenue, attendance, and number of shows from Nov. 1, 2022, to Sept. 30, 2023. In 2023 and 2024, events at the arena ranged from the 2024 U.S. Gymnastics Championship featuring Simone Biles to performances by country artists like Luke Bryan, Shania Twain, George Strait, and Alabama, as well as the CrossFit Games and the Rocket League Championship Series esports tournament.
My first projects at the arena included creating a photo management system using SharePoint and a comprehensive media list. I have continued to update the media database, which now includes over 1,000 names and contact information for TV, radio, print, digital, and out of home media, as well as influencers, vendors for artist gifts, and National Anthem singers.
I support the graphic designer by compiling popular lyrics from each artist to use on our welcome posters and koozies. A career highlight was Justin Timberlake saying, “Nice shout-out,” as he walked by my “Technicolor” poster in July 2024.
During concerts and events, I help coordinate media, photographers, artist gift delivery, local live music performers, and sponsorship asset delivery. I also occasionally manage the arena’s social media accounts during concerts and other events.
My internship at Dickies Arena, as an employee of Trail Drive Management Corp., was my first “corporate” job with human resources and IT department support. I have gained valuable experience in the work environment of a larger organization. I love the variety of events and the challenges each one brings, and I’ve enjoyed learning from the marketing director and observing the growth of the arena’s in-house marketing team.
